• The Slaughter: Canadian Book Tour Raises Awareness About China’s Illegal Organ Trade

Evil empire: The Slaughter gives a glimpse into the Chinese state’s secret program to get rid of arrested dissidents while profiting from the sale of their organs

U.S. author Ethan Gutmann’s new book, The Slaughter: Mass Killings, Organ Harvesting, and China’s Secret Solution to Its Dissident Problem, is a riveting inside account of China’s booming organ transplant business and gives a glimpse into the Chinese state’s secret program to get rid of arrested dissidents while profiting from the sale of their organs—in many cases to Western recipients.

Gutmann is currently on an eight-city tour of Canada to raise awareness about China’s illegal organ trade and to join discussions with medical and legal experts on how Canada should respond to the mass killings through organ harvesting in China.

While in Ottawa, he spoke at a public forum as well as testified before a House of Commons human rights subcommittee.

Gutmann estimates that the number of casualties is close to 100,000—most of them Falun Gong adherents.
Other dissident groups killed in this gruesome manner include Tibetans, Uyghurs, and House Christians.
In addition to Ottawa, Gutmann’s tour of Canada from Oct. 20 to Oct. 29 includes Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Courtenay, Victoria, Edmonton, and Calgary.
